Understanding Bacterial Pneumonia: Causes, Symptoms, Treatment, and Prevention

Bacterial pneumonia is a serious lung infection primarily caused by bacteria like Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae. Symptoms include high fever, chills, cough, chest pain, and shortness of breath. Treatment typically involves antibiotics, hydration, and managing fever with medications like Tylenol or Advil. Severe cases may require IV antibiotics or mechanical ventilation. While vaccines like Pneumovax can prevent certain types of bacterial pneumonia, they do not cover all strains. Proper prevention and prompt treatment are essential for recovery.
