An air raid refers to an attack involving enemy aircraft dropping bombs on targeted areas. The critical warning system for civilians included sirens that would sound upon enemy plane sightings. Understanding this historical phenomenon sheds light on its impact during events such as D-Day and highlights the significance of preparedness in the face of aerial warfare.
