  2. COMPUTER KEYBOARDING • TEXTBOOKS: I. Century 21 Computer Keyboarding 8th Edition II. Glencoe I Check Series Microsoft Office 2007 Real World Applications • ROOM: 202 • GRADE LEVEL: 6th - 7th, & 8th GRADE STUDENTS • (General Course Descriptions/Objectives)‏ • KEYBOARDING - Keyboarding is designed to teach students the "correct" fingering techniques on a keyboard needed to achieve accuracy and later, speed. Students will master Microsoft Office XP Professional (Microsoft Word) in creating, opening, closing, printing, and saving word processing document files. The operational parts of the computer along with historical facts and vocabulary will enhance the ability of students to converse intelligently while using the computer. Specific units concentrate on: • Memo and Email Formats, • Unbound Report Formats, • Personal-Business Letters, • Table Formats with Communication Skills.

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS TEXTBOOK: Glencoe I Check Series Microsoft Office 2007 Real World Applications • ROOM: 202 • GRADE LEVEL: 8TH GRADE STUDENTS • COMPUTER APPLICATIONS - Keyboarding Applications is designed to teach word processing applications, document skills, publishing, formatting, printing final copy and an introduction to spreadsheets along with database applications. • The units of application lessons are designed to allow students to transfer their knowledge and skills with other documents, including those used to get a job. Terms will be encountered such as electric mail and voice mail that define the fields of communication and information processing. Students will enhance document formatting skills and apply language skills. The preparation of business forms and special- purpose documents will allow students to create employment documents and acquire (simulated) work experience in a consulting business. Incorporated in the units are program features of Excel , Word Processing, and Access. Activities are completed in order for students to master the skills used in business today. BOOSTER CLUB FOR TECHNOLOGY To the parents: Mr./Mrs./Ms.__________________ (student) ____________________: Transportation Driver Name: ____________________ The Booster Club for Technology will convene on Thursdays after school hours for fifty-five minutes, 3:35 PM-- 4:30 PM during the second semester. • Second Semester Dates: • February 6th and 20th, 2014 • March 6th, and 20th, 2014 • April 17th, and final 24th, 2014 The Booster Club represents students striving for mastery on the computer in order to enhance their skills. As students complete assignments using tutorial programs to enhance key - touch technical skills, accuracy, comprehension and speed; they will gain a self reward.I look forward to working with your child as a member of the Booster Club for Technology .
