  1. The Pursuit of Happiness:Beatitude 8 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10

  2. Kingdom Attitudes

  3. God’s Word attracts conflicts! • Matthew 13:20-21 • 20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

  4. 4 Positive Steps for handling Harassment • 1. Recognize the SOURCE • Ephesians 6:12 ‘For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.’

  5. 2. Refuse to Retaliate • Romans 12:17-19 • 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.

  6. Tips for dealing with criticisms • 1. Acknowledge your Feelings • 2. Draw Clear Boundaries • 3. Look for the Nugget of Truth • 4. Correct Lies and Statements that Sabotage • 5. Open your Heart and Reach Out • 6. Be Gracious but Firm

  7. 3. Rest in God’s Protection • Psalm 37:7-9 • 7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret —it leads only to evil. 9 For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.

  8. Someone has said: • If our greatest need was for information, God would have sent an educator • If our greatest need was for technology, God would have sent a scientist. • If our greatest need was for pleasure, God would have sent an entertainer • If our greatest need was for money, God would have sent an economist • But since our greatest need is for MERCY, God sent a Savior!

  9. Proverbs 11:17-18 (MSG) • When you’re kind to others, you help yourself; when you’re cruel to others, you hurt yourself. Bad work gets paid with a bad check; good work gets solid pay.
