  2. Parking Safety Procedures • At night, park in a well-lit area • Use a remote door opener • Siren and flashing lights startle potential thieves • When parking against a curb: • Turn the wheels sharply to the right or left • Point the car inward toward the curb

  3. Install a Security Device • Put a reinforced collar over the steering column casing • Must be removed to start the vehicle • Alarm should sound when vehicle is tilted • Put stickers on the window • System will reduce insurance premiums

  4. Other Techniques • Install a toggle switch • Disables the starter circuit • Etch the vehicle identification number (VIN) on parts thieves sell • Windows, doors, fenders • Fancy wheels, bumpers
