  2. barrage • an overwhelming quantity of explosion (as in words, criticism, etc.) Part of Speech—NOUN Sentence: After the accident, I was bombarded with a barrage of questions by the FBI.

  3. complacent -pleased, especially with yourself; self-satisfied often without awareness of problems that arise. Part of Speech—ADJECTIVE Sentence: The voters are too complacent to change the government.

  4. corroborated • to make certain; confirm. Sentence: He corroborated my story about the robbery. Part of Speech—VERB

  5. expeditious • quick; prompt. Sentence: He was expeditious in getting to my house in his new car. Part of Speech—ADJECTIVE

  6. extolled • to praise highly. Sentence: She extolled the beauty of the waterfall. Part of Speech—VERB

  7. fastidious • excessively critical or demanding; hard to please. Part of Speech—ADJECTIVE Sentence: The little boy is fastidious when it comes to food he likes.

  8. formidable • casing fear, apprehension, or dread; awesome in strength; having feelings of admiration. Part of Speech—ADJECTIVE • Sentence: • My father’s presence is formidable to me. I admire him and respect him.

  9. indiscernible • cannot be seen or understood clearly; imperceptible. Part of Speech—ADJECTIVE • Sentence: • Hidden under branches and moss, the wall was indiscernible.

  10. irrefutable • that cannot be refuted (proved false) or disproved. Part of Speech—ADJECTIVE • Sentence: • There is irrefutable proof that he committed the crime.

  11. mandate • a command or authorization to act in a particular way on a public issue. Part of Speech—NOUN • Sentence: • There is a mandatethat everyone must have their shots.

  12. treacle • unrestrained sentimentality; being sentimental. Part of Speech—NOUN • Sentence: • The movie plot was of the most shameless treacle; I was not afraid of crying.

  13. tremulous • timid; fearful. Sentence: I tremulous feelings about spiders are never going to go away. Part of Speech—ADJECTIVE

  16. vicarious • suffered in place of another. Taking place of another person or thing. Part of Speech—ADJECTIVE • Sentence: • I live vicariously through my children—I give to them before I give to myself.
