ROSCOE Robust Scientific Communities for EGI (ROSCOE): • Foster robust scientific communities (SSCs) for EGI • Robust = independent, representative, inclusive, perennial • SSCs must play primary, direct role in EGI SSC provides: • Coordination within their communities for grid utilization • Liaison between its community and EGI/other projects (operations, middleware, support, …) • Services to broaden and deepen use of grid technology • Scientific gateway to provide information and specialized services to community ROSCOE — C.   5. Organization Management • SSC leaders play a direct role in management Work packages • Currently also organized according to SSCs. Interactions with other projects • Take place largely on SSC level. • I.e SSC coordinators or representatives interact with other projects, there will not typically be a “ROSCOE” representative ROSCOE — C.   7. Common Services Expect coordination of these activities to happen in EGI. Expect that primary interaction will also be through EGI. Perhaps some co-funding of effort with EGI.eu.   8. Common Services Expect direct interaction between SSCs and APS project. Collaboration on specific applications and general scientific libraries.   9. Common Services Expect that that EGI through the MCB will act as the liaison between SSCs and software providers.   10. Common Services Expect that that the SSCs will play a large role in providing these services and coordinating resources. Expect that EGI will have coordinating bodies to allow efficient interaction with resource providers.
