  1. Master thesis proposal Research on Porous Fuel Injectors in Combustion Engines Background In order to achieve better emissions from combustion engines, more and more attention is paid to the fuel injectors, in particular, the spray formation and distribution. By improving the mixing process, soot emissions can be reduced drastically. Nowadays, since gasoline engines increasingly also have direct injection, there are also problems with soot emissions from this engine type as well. Perhaps, a porous injector could solve this problem. Another possible application could be gas turbines. To gain better understanding with respect towhich applications are most suitable for porous injectors, more research has to be done. Combustion with a porous injector • Objectives • Study on porous injector concept • Research on different types of engines (diesel, gasoline, gas turbines, etc.) • Suggest the most suitable application • Design a porous injector for the best application • Report your findings CFD plot of porous injector Contact / further information Ir.
