Friday Sept. 2 • Goal for the day: you can explain our daily routines, develop teamwork skills by creating class list of qualities for a good team • Daily Question: Read the following quote and respond: “Failing is an option, failing to try is not”. What does this mean to you? • Plan for the day: • Alphabetical Attendance: create groups of 4 • Challenge in your group: cup pyramid in order 1-10, not touching the cups, only using the rubber bands. Sept 15 • Goal: Identify why American’s struggle with weight and identify a way to make a change. • DQ: Rank your families diet habits: A, B, C, D or F & why. • Plan: • Rotate groups/ introduce yourself • Group questions group thesis • 1. How should people lose weight (or maintain a healthy weight)? • 2. Why is it so hard for people to lose weight? • 3. Americans obesity issues have lead to a dramatic increase in: cancer, diabetes and heat disease: why? • 4. What obstacles do teens face in the fight to stay healthy? • 5. How can we fix America’s obesity epidemic? • 6. How does the media impact our eating habits? • ANALYZE DATA: create group thesis. Share out to class. • Debrief: Identify 1 small change you can make to be healthier with what you eat. Discuss SWITCH.

Predict how that impacts your health?

Sept 22 • Goal: You can explain the benefits of short and long term goals • DQ: How would you train for a marathon? • Plan: • Fill out survey • Discuss goals: short and long term • Share out SWITCH ideas: easy changes that can make big impacts later on • Debrief: Why are goals important? Explain the connection between short and long term goals.

Sept 23 • Goal: You can identify what a food rule is and give an example from your life • DQ: “If you are not hungry enough to eat an apple, then you are not hungry” is an example of a food rule: What does this mean to you? How do you overcome feeling overwhelmed with large projects? • Plan: • Intro food rules • Show sample glog • Definitions: 5 minutes: write on DQ for tomorrow • Debrief: How are you going to make this project worthwhile to yourself? How can this not be “just another project for school?
