  3. Teacher Activities • PA Dept of Ed Equipment grant, $12,500 – Diesel Engine & Dynamometer • Alternative Fuels Lessons written for the “Marketplace for the Mind” website • PA Dept of Ag Rural Youth grant, $2,500 – Biodiesel Reactor & Supplies

  4. Teacher Activities • Biodiesel Lessons & concepts presented at the “Ag In The Classroom” Conference • Biodiesel Programming presented at the PSU Extension Educators’ In-service • Biodiesel Lessons at the NAAE / ACTE Conference in Las Vegas

Student Activities • Completed Biofuel Lessons & Labs • Built the Biodiesel Reactor Unit • Collect Used Café Oil &Process Biodiesel • Conducted tests using the dynamometer • Operated Ag Program’s equipment using biofuel & bio-fluids – Gator & Tractor. • Biodiesel Exhibit at the PA Farm Show – “Growing Greener” Section. $1,000

  8. Student Station B – Lesson 2 Biofuel & Diesel Combustion differences and emissions Ag Equipment How fuels and fluids are now used in the Ag Program

  9. Student Station C – Lesson 3 Biodiesel Reactor used oil & methoxide converted to biofuel & glycerol Washing Biofuel removing soaps, etc from the biofuel

  10. Student Station D – Lessons 4&5 • Blending Biofuels proper mixing of biofuel and #2 diesel fuel • Cold Flow Properties comparing temperature effects on biodeisel blends • Glycerol By Product - Fuel Pellets Composting

  11. Station 5 – Other Labs • Testing Biofuel blends using the dynamometer & calculating HP output • Checking Specific density of biofuels and fuel blends

  12. Project’s Future Goals • Provide quality biodiesel fuels & fluids for district diesel equipment • Continue investigations of alternative fuels • Integrate with Auto & Engineering Technology Programs • Enhance science, math and English learning activities – students & teachers • Grants, Scholarships, Awards
