Giants were from almost the beginning • Gen 6:1 Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose. • They “took” - an action of force • Whom they chose…
Who Were They? • 4 The Nephilim (giants) were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. • Gen 6 about sin of all mankind • Also about giants • Also about Noah
Unknown reason for the flood? • 6.4 about giants • 6.5 about wickedness of man was great • 6.6 God ‘sighed, and was sorry’ He made man • 6.7 but Noah found grace in eyes of the LORD • Nephil - literally means bully, tyrant,giant • Was part of reason for the flood to wipe out the wickedness of fallen angels and the giants?
There were Nations of Giants • Gen 6:4 - Nephilim • Deu 1:28 - Anakims • Deu 2:10 - Emims • Deu 2:19 - Zamzummims • Josh 15:8 - Rephaimses, • many others… • Kenites,Kenizzites,Kadmonites,Hittites, Perizzites,Amorites,Canaanites,Girgashites,Gittites, Jebusites, Hivites, Horims, Avims, Caphtorims

They were wherever God’s people were • In Noah’s day • Seth was still alive when Noah was almost 200 yrs old…Adam gone for abt 100+ yrs • In Abram’s day • Gen 14 -king who took Lot fought giants • Moses’ day - fought many giants • Joshua’s day – fought many giants • David’s day - fought Goliath the Gittite
Satan tried it twice • Gen 6.4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days and also afterward • Two eruptions of fallen angels • Twice fallen angels married earthly women • Both times fallen angels became fathers of children • All children born were giants • Were men of great stature…”men of renown”
Is it possible??? • Giant cities of Bashaan • Giant cities the spies saw … • Deu 1:28 …the cities of this people are taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven • They had Egypt and pyramids as a reference; yet said cities were huge… • Other huge monuments of construction of antiquity remain an unsolved mystery until it be considered it could have been done by labor of the giants?
“Gee I Wonder” • Pyramids of Egypt ? Done by giant labor • Greek Mythology? • Olympians were perceived to be 12’ tall • Atlas, Titans, Cyclopes The revelation of giants we have in scripture gives us a true picture of what Greek Mythology tries in vain to give. • Ours is an account because it is divinely inspired • Mythology is the outgrowth of traditions, memories, and legends tell the acts of supernatural fathers and their giant offspring
More thoughts to ponder… • Doubters claim it is the Bible that is full of perversion of ancient truth, corruption in transmission of actual facts, and errors of mankind in transferring truth from age to age • The truth is : it is the thinking of fallen man and the doubters who actually had the perversion and corruption in transmission of actual facts concerning these mighty beings. • The fact that giants were partly of supernatural origin made it easy for men to regard them as gods
Biblical proof of supernatural origins • Said to be union of ‘sons of God’ and women • Rephaim (giants) have no resurrection… • Is 26:14 they shall not live; they are refa’im (dead ones), they shall not rise; therefore Thou hast visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish. • Is 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. (Rephaim) • Jn 5:28Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, • 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
The fathers of giants were not ordinary men • Not of Adamite lineage • No union of human man or woman to another human being ever produced biblical giants • God’s law was that from beginning everything after it’s own kind… • Giants can’t be produced by ordinary men • It took a supernatural element / Sons of God, daughters of men… • Amos 2:9-10 “Yet I destroyed the Amorites before them, though they were tall as the cedarsand strong as the oaks • Josephus …race of giants with bodies so large and countenances so entirely different from other men, that they were surprising to the sight, and terrible to the hearing. Their bones of these men are still shown to this very day
What about Giantism? • It is a disease of hormones • Usually deteriorate as body can’t sustain • Bible calls the giants…men of renown, tall and strong as Cedars, warriors
American Indian Lore • For example, in his autobiography, “Buffalo” Bill Cody wrote the following words about a legend recounted to him by members of the Sioux tribe. • It was taught by the wise men of this tribe that the earth was originally peopled by giants, who were fully three times the size of modern men. They were so swift and powerful that they could run alongside a buffalo, take the animal under one arm, and tear off a leg, and eat it as they ran. So vainglorious were they because of their own size and strength that they denied the existence of a Creator. When it lighted, they proclaimed their superiority to the lightning; when it thundered, they laughed. • This displeased the Great Spirit, and to rebuke their arrogance he sent a great rain upon the earth. The valleys filled with water, and the giants retreated to the hills. The water crept up the hills, and the giants sought safety on the highest mountains. Still the rain continued, the waters rose, and the giants, having no other refuge, were drowned.27
Why No True Giants Today? • Two classes of fallen angels in Bible • 1. Those loose with Satan • 2 . Those who committed sin with humanity • 2 Pet 2:4For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment; 5 if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others… • Jude 6,7 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.
The ones who did it are locked up • Present confinement proves they committed sin besides original rebellion or they would be loose right now… • Always ask yourself…so what? • Why did they do it?
Purpose of Satan in Producing Giants • To corrupt the human race • Do away with pure human line of Adam • THRU WHOM THE SEED OF THE WOMAN COMES • To crush his head • Avert his doom • Keep control of the planet indefinitely
Satan is a good listener • Heard Gen 3:15 : put hostility between enemies (emnity) between her seed and your seed • Only way for Satan to avoid defeat was to corrupt pure line of humanity of Adam so coming of the seed of the woman would be impossible • So sent in the fallen angels ….twice - before and after the flood…Gen 6:4
Almost Made It • First attempt • Of all multitudes of people; only 8 people left • Gen 6.9 Noah was a just man and perfect (bodily perfection – used of sacrificial animals 47 times ) • All others could have been mixture of non human • All earth corrupt (same word as when earth destroyed) nothing of value left • Main object of flood was to do away with satanic corruption, wickedness and giants
If at first you don’t succeed… • Tried it again… • Now thinks he has advantage… • God promised no more floods! • If got within 8 souls what could his chances be with no threat of flood • Now occupied land of promise • How was God going to deal with giants now? • Explains difficult passages of destroying everyone…
Get’s in the land of promise • Abram defeats king who had defeated giants • Knows in 400+ yrs God’s people coming to land • Doesn’t care about rest of world…going after seed • Satan doesn’t care about you…going after seed • God’s word is called a seed! • When does enemy come to steal it? • What does he come for? • Wants to corrupt Word in you • Or corrupt you so Word won’t work in you
What is God’s Plan? • Send’s His people to land of promise • Goes before them • Protected Noah, Moses, Jesus from death • Sends them right into the face of the giants • God’s ancient enemy • On purpose • With attitude! • You take their land, their cities, their stuff!!!
Giants in your land today • Going after Word in your heart • Or your kid’s heart • What do you do? • Look at the grapes of promise • Or giants of curse • He will be with you to fight the good fight • God loves victory • Hebrews 2:16For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
Our Calling • Walk before Him in purity • Take the seed of the Word • Steal the corrupted,perverted,sin-filled sons of the enemy • Give them the pure Word of God • 1 Jn 3:19 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, • 1 Pet 1:23born again, not of corruptibleseed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Our Fight • Rev 12:17 the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. • The battle still goes on!
