  2. Official Graduation Dates • Boston University has three official graduation dates: • May (date changes each year) • September 25th • January 25th

  3. Sign-out • Electronic sign-out utilizing SPS starts on March 31st, 2011. • Dr. Jones has emailed tentative graduates all the details related to signing out. • You should be actively checking SPS to see which signatures you have already obtained as well as completing any work (i.e. summatives) necessary to receive the remaining signatures.

  4. Diploma Information

  5. If you sign out BY5/22/11 you are eligible for a: • May 22, 2011 Diploma • Letter of Graduation which states your official graduation date and degree conferred. • Official Final Transcript which states your official graduation date and degree conferred.

If you complete the sign out process BETWEEN5/22/11 and 8/26/2011 you are immediately eligible for a: • Letter of Completion which states the date you completed the necessary requirements for the degree which will be conferred on September 25th • Official transcript which only includes your final grades

  8. And AFTER9/25/2011 you will receive: • September 25th, 2011 Diploma (mailed to you) • Official final transcript which states your official graduation date and degree conferred

  9. License and Board Applications • Please read all materials carefully prior to submitting the application and fee. States do not have the same license requirements and some states will not accept a “Letter of Completion” as proof of graduation. • Some states will only take an official final transcript with the degree and graduation date on it. If you sign out by May 20th, 2011, your transcript will indicate a May 22nd, 2011graduation date. • If you sign out after May 20th, 2011, an official final transcript (indicating date of graduation and degree) can only be issued on or after September 25th, 2011. You can receive an official transcript at any time , but you can only be issued an official final transcript with your graduation date and degree on or after September 25th, 2011.

State Licensing Boards • In order to obtain a license, the following states have historically required official final transcripts with the date of graduation and degree awarded posted on it and will NOT accept a “Certificate of Completion”: • Connecticut • Georgia • Illinois • Michigan • North Carolina • Nevada • Texas • Vermont • Virginia • Washington • Pennsylvania This is not a complete or official list.

Graduation Programs 1) All University Commencement Program: “The Red Book” 2) BUGSDM Commencement Ceremony Program • Both of the above programs will reflect your name and previous degrees as it appeared on the student link as of March 16th, 2011. • Your name will appear in both programs whether you are a May, September or January graduate, unless you have restricted your data on the student link.

  12. Health Insurance • If you are currently enrolled in the AETNA student health plan, then your coverage officially ends on August 31st, 2011.

  13. Disability Insurance • All DMD and Advanced Standing students are currently enrolled in a student disability insurance plan. • When you graduate, you are entitled to convert your coverage to an individual non-cancelable policy w/out medical underwriting. • Details are located on the Office of the Registrar’s web site.

  14. Are you coming to the Dental School’s Graduation? • Please notify Ms. Lindsay Corrigan in the Office of Event and Meeting Planning if you will be unable to attend the graduation ceremony.
