Gustar with Infinitives • An infinitive tells the meaning of the verb without naming any subject or tense. • In English, the infinitive is: to + action • To run • To walk • There are three kinds of infinitives in Spanish: • those that end in ar, • those that end in er • and those that end in ir.

  4. What is an infinitive in English? • To + adjective • To + action (verb) • To + noun

  5. What is the purpose of an infinitive? • tells the meaning of the verb without naming any subject or tense. • Tells who is doing the action • Tells how someone is doing the action

  6. What are the 3 kinds of infinitives in Spanish? Verbs ending in… • -ar, -er, -or • -ar, -ir, -or • -ar, -er, -ir

  7. Gustar with Infinitives • Just like nouns, infinitives can be used after a verb like gustar to say what you and others like to do. • Me gustaescuchar la musica. • I like music. • Me gustacantar. • I like to sing.
