Software Defined Radio for the Smartphone Age Operation Introduction • Large frequency band received by antenna • 22kHz of bandwidth brought down to baseband by FPGA board • Signal sent over microphone port and demodulated in software on smartphone While software defined radio (SDR) has been used for years to demodulate arbitrary modulation schemes, the computational power of smartphones has only recently become fast enough to run SDR software.
