  3. 1986-87: CDC registered as a society & first governing body formed • 1987-88: Establishment of office, appointment of core staff and formation of computer centre • 1988-89: Created “computerized database” of consultants • 1989-90:Publication of CDC newsletter • 1990-91:Regional training programmes introduced • 1991-92: Formulated guidelines for “registration of consultants” • 1992-93: Formulated Training and R&D Policy • 1993-94:Shifted to new office at IHC • 1994-95:Assigned secretariat function for TCDPAP • 1995-96:“MS in Consultancy Management” introduced • 1996-97:Launched “Skill Upgradation of Consultants” scheme • 1997-98:Became ISO9002 certified organization • 1998-99: ISO 9000 Consultancy Facilitation Projects taken up • 1999-00:Published “National Directory of Consultancy Services” • 2000-01:ISO 9000, 14000 training programmes launched

  4. 2001-02: Prepared strategic plan for CDC 2002-2012 • 2002-03: Study on “Disputes in technology Transfer Agreements” • 2003-04:International training programmes on “Quality Management in Consultancy Services” • 2004-05: Approved as an “Autonomous Institution” of DSIR • 2005-06: “Best Student Award” for MS programme initiated • 2006-07:Launched journal “Consulting Ahead” • 2007-08:MS Programme strengthened & launched in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad • 2008-09: Started certificate course “Technical Consulting” • 2009-10:Certificate course “Management Consulting” & Portal of Consultants launched • 2010-11: Accreditation/ Empanelment of consultants and Case Study writing scheme launched.

Challenges Ahead • Facilitate CSIR in implementation of CSIR 800 plan • Facilitate DSIR in developing national level flagship schemes and their implementation • Set up Academy/ Institute for education & training in consultancy • Initiate policies/ guidelines for enhancing quality in consulting & strengthen register of Certified Consultants for greater success in implementation of plan projects at Central/ State level
