  9. Myths about Fraternities • Fraternities promote drinking. • Kappa Sigma allows its members to drink but they also emphasize being a responsible drinker. Kappa Sigma has a program called my brothers keeper. This is an idea that brothers should watch out for each other and not allow each other to drink and drive.

  10. More Myths • Fraternities are all about parties. • Social fraternities are allowed to have parties, but that is not all that they do. Like I said earlier Kappa Sigma does a lot more than just party. Actually parties are only a small portion of what you do as a Kappa Sigma. • Brothers in Fraternities have to pay for their friends. • You do have to pay for being in a fraternity. But you are not paying for your friends you pay for things like insurance coverage for the house from national. You pay to do the fun stuff like parties, and exchanges.

  11. More Myths • I am not a fraternity guy. • Nobody sees themselves as being in a fraternity. If you ask in brother in a fraternity if they thought that they were a fraternity guy the majority will say no. You will never know if a fraternity such as Kappa Sigma is for you or not until you try it. • Fraternities haze. • Kappa Sigma is a non-hazing fraternity. Hazing of any kind will not be tolerated by the Fraternity and any brothers involved in hazing will be dealt with by the national headquarters.

  12. How do you get into Kappa Sigma? • If you would like to join Kappa Sigma then you should go to your local chapter of Kappa Sigma at your college and talk to the brothers. • Talk to them and see if you like what they have to say. If you do then you should talk to them about joining. Each chapter has different requirements for their new members.

  13. More on how to get into Kappa Sigma? • Once you have been offered an opportunity to become a brother you must go through a pledge semester. • During this pledge semester you will learn about what it means to be a Kappa Sigma. • Then once you have proven yourself during your pledge semester to the brothers of Kappa Sigma you will be initiated and become a brother.
