Empowering Parents: The S.M.I.L.E. Program for Pregnancy and Delivery Education

DESCRIPTION

The S.M.I.L.E. program, launched in 1976 at the Rose of Durham in Oshawa, now spans five locations in Durham Region. It offers a comprehensive 3-week early pregnancy series and a 6-8 week labor and delivery course. Participants learn about their changing bodies, fetal development, healthy lifestyles, prenatal care, coping strategies, and newborn care. With additional resources for prenatal support and community agency referrals, S.M.I.L.E. ensures that expectant parents receive the knowledge and assistance they need for a healthy pregnancy and childbirth experience.
