  1. Progress toward COP 12 targetsMozambique-ICB October 24 2012

  2. Methods: Measurement period and data sources • Targets • Period: October 2011-September 2012 (annual) • Data sources: COP, SAPR • Sex and age disaggregation included when available • Achievements • Period: October 2011-June 2012 (goal: 75% of target met) • Data source: URS • Sex and age disaggregation included when applicable

  3. Methods: Indicators • Selected 12 NGI indicators included in COP in most countries (Mozambique reports 11/12 indicators) • Span multiple programmatic areas • 11 indicators have numeric targets (e.g. # of pregnant women with known HIV status in PMTCT setting) • Calculate % target achieved • Numerator=Achievement / Denominator=Target • 1 indicator has % target (i.e. % of ART patients known to be alive and on treatment at 12 months) • Assess whether target exceeded, achieved or not achieved • Compare % retained in last reporting quarter to target

  4. 1. Number of pregnant women with known HIV status in PMTCT setting, by quarter % Overall target achieved=60% Q3 (26%) Q2 (21%) Q1 (14%)

  5. 2. Number of HIV-infected pregnant women receiving ARVs to reduce risk of MTCT, by quarter % Overall target achieved=64% Q3 (27%) Q2 (18%) Q1 (19%)

  6. 3a. Number of individuals receiving HTC services and receiving results, by quarter % Overall target achieved=52% Q3 (21%) Q2 (17%) Q1 (14%) Note: PICT/VCT , TB and PMTCT testing data are included.

  7. 3b. Number of individuals receiving HTC services and receiving results, by sex % Overall target achieved=52% 53% 45% Note: PICT/VCT , TB and PMTCT testing data are included.

  8. 4. Number of infants receiving an HIV test within 12 months of birth % Overall target achieved=18% Q3 (7%) Q2 (6%) Q1 (5%)

  9. 5a. Number of HIV-positive adults and children receiving a minimum of one clinical service (current patients), by sex % Overall target achieved=70% 70% 70% Note: Trend data not applicable.

  10. 5b. Number of HIV-positive adults and children receiving a minimum of one clinical service (current patients), by age % Overall target achieved=70% 72% 53% Note: Trend data not applicable.

  11. 6a. Number of HIV-positive persons receivingCTX prophylaxis (current patients) % Target achieved=34% Note: Trend data not applicable. Achievement is reported only from subset of sites with patient-level databases

  12. 6b. Number of HIV-positive persons receivingCTX prophylaxis (current patients)-modified target % Target achieved=62% Note: Trend data not applicable. Achievement is reported only from subset of sites with patient-level databases. . Target shown here is recalculated, applying the proportion of patients who are captured in sites with patient-level databases.

  13. 7a. Number of adults and children with advanced HIV infection newly initiating ART (new enrollment), by quarter % Overall target achieved=74% Q3 (29%) Q2 (22%) Q1 (22%)

  14. 7b. Number of adults and children with advanced HIV infection newly initiating ART (new enrollment), by age and sex % Overall target achieved=74% 62% 56% 76% 75%

  15. 8. Number of adults and children with advanced HIV infection receiving ART (current enrollment), by age and sex % Overall target achieved=70% 66% 59% 71% 72% Note: Trend data not applicable.

  16. 9. Percent of adults and children known to be alive and on treatment 12 months after ART initiation Target not achieved Note: Trend data not applicable.

  17. 10a. Number of patients in HIV care screened for TB (current patients) % Target achieved=47% Note: Trend data not applicable. Achievement is reported only from subset of sites with patient-level databases.

  18. 10b. Number of patients in HIV care screened for TB (current patients)-modified target % Target achieved=85% Note: Trend data not applicable. Achievement is reported only from subset of sites with patient-level databases. Target shown here is recalculated, applying the proportion of patients who are captured in sites with patient-level databases.

  19. 11. Number of patients in HIV care and treatment starting TB treatment, by quarter % Overall target achieved=40% Q3 (15%) Q2 (13%) Q1 (12%)

  20. Challenges • Discrepancies in targets included in COP and SAPR • New on ART • Current on ART • Discrepancies between data maintained in-country and URS • HTC services, infant testing, and TB treatment • USG sets targets for indicators that cannot be reported on using existing national systems • CTX prophylaxis and TB screening among current patients in HIV care
