  3. Essential questions • Explain the connection between solar and nutritional energy. • How can understanding basic nutrient information lead to improved long-term health?

  4. Let’s Review • Fill in the blanks: • There are ___________ nutrients found in the foods that we eat. • Of these they are divided in to _________ types of nutrients. • The two categories of nutrients are called ________ and _________. • ____ nutrients provide 4 or 9 calories. The name of these nutrients are __carbohydrates____, __proteins____, and __fats____

  6. directions • For this presentation you will be looking at descriptions of the Macronutrients • You and your partners will determine which nutrient fits the description. • Hold up the sign that your group fills is correct. • For each correct response, the group gets 1 point. • Fill in the answers in the appropriate section of the notes. • At the end of the presentation the team with the highest number of points will be the winner and receive an advantage • Group Roles: • Score Keeper • Note Taker • Sign Holder

  7. If you Really knew me you would know…. I am necessary for brain function I am also broken into 3 additional descriptions

  8. You would know that I am • A part of the Carbohydrate family • This is the main source of the body’s energy , are necessary for brain function and are broken into starches, sugars, and fiber.
