  1. Learning This is the learning button, it will take you to the pathway that one of your teachers has set for you.

  2. Independent This is the independent button, it will enable you to select a specific lesson from a list that you want to do.

  3. Coursework This is the coursework button, clicking on this button will take you to EDQuals – EDLounge’s e-portfolio.

  4. Vocational This is the vocational button, it will take you to EDVille where you can do vocational lessons through the filing cabinets and drawers in your office.

  5. Reports This is the reports button, it will take you to your reports page where you can see the various lessons you have completed and a stats breakdown.

  6. EDVille This is the EDVille button, it will take you to EDVille. In EDVille you can manage your enterprises and earn extra credit to spend in your lounge.

  7. Rooms This is the rooms button, it will open a room selection box within which you can pick any of your rooms to enter it.

  8. DJ This is the DJ button, clicking this will open a dialog box for you to buy time in the DJ area.

  9. Fitness This is the fitness button, it is still currently under development and is coming soon.

  10. Library This is the library button, it will open a dialog box with a list of all subjects. Within one of these subjects are various mini-pathways that you can choose to follow.

  11. Help This is the help button, it will open a box with a list of questions that you can search through if you need any help with how to use the student area.

  12. This is an example of a lesson. The icons along the left of the slide are: Help, Videos from Outstanding Teachers through EDLounge and Videos that your Teachers may have uploaded. It is possible to change the colours of both the font and slide background as well as change the size of the text that is displayed in the lesson. The video buttons open a box with videos that are related to the content of this lesson from both EDLounge and other Teachers. You can do this by clicking the coloured circles at the top of the slide to change colours and the three A’s to change the size of the text. Click next to continue

  13. If you are having any problems with a lesson, please click the “Report Bug” button to notify us of anything that has gone wrong when doing a lesson. We will try to rectify these errors as soon as possible. Click next to continue

  14. This is an example of a Multiple Choice Question. Multiple Choice Questions are immediately marked and you receive instant feedback. This allows you to track your progress in a lesson as you are doing it. For answering a Multiple Choice Question correct you get 10 ED Dollar and 25 Enterprise Points. Click next to continue

  15. This is an example of a Drag and Drop Question. Drag and Drop Questions are like multiple choice questions because they are immediately marked and you receive instant feedback. This allows you to track your progress in a lesson as you are doing it. Click next to continue

  16. This is an example of a Free Text Question. The answer should be written into this box. Free Text Questions cannot be immediately marked like multiple choice questions. They exist for you to put your own opinion and show your understanding in a written format. Click next to continue

  17. This is the end of lesson summary. All of the time and money that you have earned while in this lesson is displayed. A recap of any multiple choice questions that you have answered is also shown. Click next to continue

  18. This is the final slide that appears on every lesson. With all the money you have earned throughout the lesson you can choose to either go to your lounge, to your enterprises or to get a small boost of bonus money by going on to complete another lesson. Depending on the option that you choose you will be taxed at a different rate. For example if you choose to go straight to your lounge you will be taxed at a much higher rate than if you chose to spend your money on your enterprises. Click any of the buttons to return to the overview section.

  19. This is the independent learning section of EDLounge. After clicking the independent button this is the screen that will be shown. It is a list of all the subjects that we offer on EDLounge. To find all the lessons within a particular subject, simply click on the post it with the subject that you want. For this example, please click on the “Maths” post it note.

  20. This is the list of lessons that is shown after clicking a subject, in our case it was Maths. As you can see some lessons have been crossed out which indicates that this particular lesson has been completed already. To counter cheating of the system we only allow each lesson to be done once. By clicking on a lesson, you will be taken to the lessons page where the lesson that you have selected will be loaded and ready to go. Click on any of the titles to be shown an example of the lessons within EDLounge.

  21. To do Vocational learning there are three routes. The first route is to click on one the drawers of the filing cabinets. This will open a window with a list of vocations. This is the office in EDVille. In this area it is possible to do independent learning, vocational learning and to manage your enterprises. To do Independent learning, simply click on the bag on the floor for an example. The second route is to click one of the drawers of the desk. This will bring up a list of lessons relevant to the title of the drawer. The third route is to click the folders on top of the desk. This will bring up a list of lessons to do with Health and Safety and Careers. To continue, select which area you would like to know more about, or click the back to lounge text to go back to the overview page.

  22. Within the filing cabinet are folders with the names of various vocations on them. Clicking one of these folders will bring up a list of lessons that is in a similar format to the one you may have seen in independent learning. For this example, please click on the folder labelled “Executive Jobs”. If you wish to go back to the overview screen click the “Back to Lounge” text.

  23. This is the list of lessons that is shown after clicking a vocation, in our case it was Executive Jobs. To go back at any time click the cancel button. By clicking on a lesson, you will be taken to the lessons page where the lesson that you have selected will be loaded and ready to go. Click on any of the titles to be shown an example of the lessons within EDLounge.

  24. This is the list of lessons that is shown after clicking one of the folders on the desk. To go back at any time click the “Go Back” text. By clicking on a lesson, you will be taken to the lessons page where the lesson that you have selected will be loaded and ready to go. Click on any of the titles to be shown an example of the lessons within EDLounge.

  25. This is the list of lessons that is shown after clicking one of the drawers on the desk. To go back at any time click the front of the drawer. By clicking on a lesson, you will be taken to the lessons page where the lesson that you have selected will be loaded and ready to go. Below the buttons at the top of the page is a breakdown of various stats that you may be interested in including your time in learning, how much money you have spent and earned and also your average grade. This is the reports page. At the top of the screen are buttons to break the report down into various sections focusing on your: Pathway, Coursework and Homework. The fitness button is being developed at the moment and is coming soon. Underneath the stat breakdown is a list of your most recently completed lessons, when you completed them, how long it took you and if there is any grade attached to that lesson. Clicking a lesson will bring up that breakdown for that individual lesson. The calendar is to keep track of any key dates and deadlines that you may have. The settings button allows you to change your password. Click anywhere to go back to the overview page.

  27. This is the office in EDVille. In this area it is possible to do independent learning, vocational learning and to manage your enterprises. To go to your enterprises simply click through the window. To find an overall view of all your enterprises, click on the computer.

  28. The enterprises are: This is the view you get after clicking through the window in your EDVille Office. Ned’s Autos – A garage / repair enterprise. Sierra Islands – An area where you can run a theme park and build rides. There are 5 different enterprises for you to choose from. You can choose to start small and only take on one enterprise or try and go for them all at once. Hotel Spa – In this enterprise you run a health spa and buy various treatments to sell. Sports Centre – Like the Hotel Spa, except you buy equipment and gymnasium areas to run this enterprise. Epicentre – This enterprise is like a retail park where you can buy various buildings and amusements to draw in customers.

  29. This is the overview screen on your computer. The percentages on each enterprise indicate how well is it currently doing. By clicking on the accounts tab at the top of the screen you will be able to see your income and outgoings related to all your enterprises.

  30. This is the accounts screen on your computer. It will show any income that you are receiving from your enterprises and also the outgoing that you have along with the totals for both. Click Go Back at any time to go back to the previous screen.

  31. This is the box that pops up after you click the Rooms icon. It will allow you to either buy a new room or go into one of your existing rooms. To continue, choose either “Buy new Rooms” or click on one of the rooms for an example of how the rooms work. It is also possible to search for a room if you have a long list. To go back to the overview page, click the cross on the window.

  32. After clicking “Buy new Rooms” this is the box that will appear. You can choose what size room you require and then click buy. Click the cross on the window to go back. This will then enable you to name your room and start placing items within it.

  33. This is an example of a typical students room. To buy more items you can click on the Catalogue at the top left of the room window. To view an example please click the icon. To zoom in or out of the room you can click the plus and minus icons at the top right of the room window. To go back to the overview page, click the button below. To center the room back into the middle of the screen if you have dragged it off screen, click the button to the left of the minus icon. Each item can be clicked on to bring up a radial menu. To see an example of this click on the orange sofa.

  34. The radial menu that pops up has 5-6 buttons dependent on the item. To go back to the overview page, click the button below. If the item has an animation an extra button labelled with an “A” will be added to turn on or off the animation. The buttons on the radial menu starting from the top and moving clockwise are: Learn – The learn button will take you to lessons. Move – The move button will allow you to move the item around the room and place it somewhere else. Rotate – The rotate button will rotate the item 90 degrees. Sell – The sell button will bring up a sell box confirming you want to sell this item. Info – The info button will bring up an information box telling you about the item.

  35. This is the catalogue for the student rooms. It can be filtered by category, to do this click on the drop down box labelled “Show All Item Types” to view an example. By clicking on the picture of an item the right hand side of the catalogue changes to show a description and the price of the item that you have selected. You can them choose to buy that item by clicking the “Buy Item” button. To go back to the rooms, click the cross at the top right of the catalogue window.

The list of categories will cut down the amount of pages that have to be looked through to find the item that you want by only displaying certain items that fit into the category that you select. To go back to the rooms, click the cross at the top right of the catalogue window. It is also possible to search for items by name, simply type into the text box at the top of the catalogue what you are searching for and click Go.

  37. This is the box that pops up after you click the DJ icon. It will allow you to either buy time to use in the DJ area or to use time that you already have bought previously. To buy time you simply select the option you wish to purchase and click the “Buy Time” button. This will then take you straight into the DJ area with the time that you have bought. If you have already bought time but not used it all, it will be displayed at the bottom of the window. You can click the “DJ Now” button to use this time. Click “DJ Now” for an example of the DJ area.

  38. To go back at any time click the cross at the top right of the DJ window. After you have read both the help screens for the DJ area this is the screen you are presented with. To load a sound into the sound pads, select a sample from the drop down box on the sound pad box itself. Then make sure that it is in “Assign” mode and click one of the numbered pads. To load a track into the decks, select a genre from the middle drop down box. Then you can select a track to load into either deck from the left and right drop down boxes. After you have assigned all your samples, click the “Assign” button so that it changes to “Locked” and then any clicks you make on the numbered pads will play the sounds that you assigned to them before. You can also upload your own track, it has to be in MP3 format. Do this by clicking the Upload Track button and browsing to the file.

  39. This is the library popup box. In this box is a list of subjects that have mini-pathways attached to them. Mini-pathways are groups of lessons focused on a particular topic within a subject. For an example of the topics within a subject, please click on the “Maths” button.

  40. As you can see, if you are having trouble with a particular part of Maths or any other subject. This is a great place for you to brush up on those skills. To view a list of the lessons that are in the topics, click the “view path” button on the “Factorising” topic. It is possible to start from the middle of a topic but to get the full learning experience we recommend starting at the beginning by clicking the “Complete Path” button.

  41. To go back to the overview page click on the cross at the top right of the library window. These are the lessons that are in the “Factorising” mini-pathway. To do a single lesson you can click on the name of that lesson and it will take you there. To view an example of what lessons look like in EDLounge click on one of the lesson names.

  42. This is the help section. To get help on anything to do with the student area of EDLounge this is the place to be. To go back to the overview page click the cross at the top right of the box. You can search for your problem by using the search box at the top of the window or by filtering by categories to the left of the search box. To view an example of the help files. Please click on “How do I access my lessons?”

  43. To go back to the overview page click the cross at the top right of the box. To go back to the help questions click the “Go Back” button. These explanations will be accompanied by diagrams or pictures when appropriate.

  44. Overview Clicking this button will take you back to same screen that is displayed when you first log in.

  45. Personal Account This is your personal account, all the money that is in this account can be used to spend in your rooms.

  46. Business Account This is your business account, all the money that is in this account can be used to spend in your enterprises.

  47. Time Remaining This is how much time you have remaining to use in your lounge area.

  48. Notifications Any notifications about marked work or messages from your teacher will be displayed here.

  49. Personal Help This area is currently being developed on and will be changed shortly. Stay tuned.
