Moore’s forms are usually abstractions of the human figure • Mother and child/ reclining figures—females • His forms are generally pierced or contain hollow spaces. Henry Moore

January 10, 1903- May 20, 1975 • Also English • Influenced by Henry Moore • Began by carving in marble then later moved to large scale bronze pieces Barbra Hepworth

Starts off as a powder then, when mixed with water, can become a hard durable surface for sculpting. • Plaster is a balance between material, water, and time. Plaster As A Material
Plaster can be used in many ways: • For repairing walls • Creating texture • To make casts for medical purposes • For artistic purposes Plaster As A Material
Fill a small bucket with plaster and water mixture. • Let plaster set for ten minutes or so • Pour plaster into small plastic sacks • Squeeze with hands to create interesting forms • Carve, sand, and paint once plaster is hard Making Our Own Abstract Plaster Sculptures
