  1. 2014 Nursing Research Grant Program • $250,000 available in 32 awards • This reflects a 10% increase in funding from 2013 • Priority for funding: • Field of study • ANA research priorities • Selection based upon scientific merit and • Investigator’s ability to conduct the study • Project’s potential for further research • Methodology development • Theory development • Innovation

  2. Principal investigator (PI) must: • Be a Registered Nurse • Have a BSN or higher Nursing degree • Beginning and experienced nurse researchers are eligible – some grants require specific experience • Master’s thesis, DNP scholarly project, or doctoral dissertation research will be considered only if project has been approved by committee • Next Cycle: Electronic Submission: Feb 1 - May 1, 2015 • CANS grant 2014 will be awarded 9/1/14 • IRB or institutional animal care and use committee approval required before release of funds

  3. $100 application fee ANA membership required Applicant must be a current member of CANS; presentation by the researcher is expected at a CANS conference within 2 years Can apply for multiple awards Each application receives multiple reviews Comments are provided to applicant Instructions and video assistance at: www.anfonline.org

New in 2014 To support improving the quality of care provided in clinical settings and the integral role nurses play in designing better care, the American Nurses Foundation will expand the program to include funding for studies of systematic, data-guided activities designed to bring about improvement in healthcare delivery. The Foundation will award two (2) $5,000 grants to beginning researchers and two (2) $10,000 grants to experienced researchers, with one of each to be awarded to a clinical researcher at a Magnet facility.
