  1. Please find your seat, look through y0ur folder and sit quietly. Welcome to 5th Grade

  2. Today • Homeroom Stuff • Lockers • Switch classes

  3. What do you need? • School Supplies • Planners • Homework folders • Hall Passes • Hall passes are your ticket out the door • You are not in trouble if you use a hall pass, but you do not get reward at end of six weeks if you have used your hall pass.—small reward

  4. Desks There should be nothing in your homeroom desk when you are away from it All books, supplies, etc. are kept in locker • You do not need extra junk in your locker! Leaving items in your desks will result in discipline marks

  5. Please bring everything you need to class! Check boards outside of class rooms daily You get to go to your lockers in between each class • If you return to your locker during class, you must use a block from your hall pass. You will have 5 minutes between classes to get what you need!!!

  6. Daily Assignments • Homework is checked daily in class. • You will call home if you do not have your homework. Homework is not Optional!!! Fifth grade will not be fun for you if you don’t turn in assignments!!

  7. Make-Up Work • If student is only absent one day student will be given assignment the next day. Teachers will determine how long you get to make up those assignments. • Assignments will be taken to the homework cabinet if a parent calls for them. • Assignments made up from Excused Absences will be given full credit if turned in by the due date. • Extended absences must be cleared by the office before assignments will be given.

  8. Student Behaviors • Students will follow all school rules which are stated in the Student Handbook. • Students are also expected to follow all classroom rules.

  9. Dress Code • You are expected to follow dress code. • Shorts/skirts must come to knees • Shirts must have sleeves • No under garments should be showing

  10. Class Rules • Be prepared for class (paper, pencil, book, etc.). • Be respectful of others at all times. • Follow all directions the 1st time they are given. • No toys. • Stay in your seat unless given permission to be up.

  11. Hallway behavior • No talking in Line • Keep hands and feet to yourself • Students are to stand one behind another • One teacher may have two groups, so even looking like your talking may get you in trouble!

  12. Consequences • 1st discipline mark—Warning • 2nd discipline mark—lunch detention • 3rd discipline mark—no recess • 4th discipline mark—office referral and/or corporal punishment

  13. Tickets • We have a ticket system • You can receive tickets for lots of things like making a 100 on an assignment, answering a question correctly, bringing progress report folders back on time, etc. • All tickets go into a bucket to be drawn on Thursday. • Each teacher will draw four tickets for Friday

  14. Fun Friday • If your name is drawn from the Lucky Bucket you can decide to have lunch with a friend, receive a free homework pass, or any other special reward we might have that week. • Also, If you have fewer than 3 discipline marks, you will get recess time. • If you have had your homework all week, you also get recess time.

  16. Progress Reports • Progress reports are handed out on Friday. They should be signed and returned by Wednesday. • If you do not turn in your progress report by Wednesday, you will not get to play on Friday of that week and you will call home.

  17. Schedule Monday – Thursday 8:05-9:15 1st period 9:20-10:40 2nd period 10:45-11:30 Special Classes 11:35-11:45 Switch to 3rd period 11:45—12:20 Lunch 12:30-1:35 3rd period 1:40-2:50 4th period 2:55-3:05 Prepare for Home

  18. Friday Schedule • 8:05-8:55 1st period • 9:00-9:50 2nd period • 9:55-10:40 3rd period • 10:45-11:30 Special Classes • 11:35-11:45 Switch to 4th • 11:50-12:25 Lunch • 12:30-1:15 4th period • 1:20-2:05 Journaling, AR, makeup work , etc. • 2:05-2:55 Fun Friday • 2:55-3:05 Prepare for home

  19. Special Class Schedule PE Monday and Thursday Computer Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday Special Class time 10:45-11:30

  20. Lunch 11:50-12:30

  21. Phone Use • You may only use the phone with permission from teachers. • A phone is available in the office for student use after school. • Cell phones must be turned off until after school

  22. Conferences • Teachers are available each day at 3:05 to speak with parents. • Please do not expect to see a teacher, except after 3:05, without a scheduled appointment.

  23. Fun Stuff • We do try to have a good time in fifth grade. • We will have some rewards parties throughout the year. • The Biggie….The Fifth Grade Dance will be after TCAPS • Honors Trip • Reward Field Trip to NascarSpeedpark

  24. All we can ask for you is to do your best!!!! • If you are doing your best, we will have a great year together. • We will give you our best as teachers!
