  1. All You Need to Know About Liver Transplantation Surgery Human body is a complex structure created by God. It is no less than a miracle that a human body has so many organs, and all are devised to various functions. A dysfunctional body organ can create massive damage to the overall health of the human body. All the organs of the body are vital, but one of the most important human organs is liver. Liver performs functions like metabolism, digestion, blood clotting, detoxification of blood and many more. Situations do arise when the liver gets damaged, and is beyond repair. In such cases, effective treatments can slow down the process of damagebut not completely eradicate it. Liver transplantation surgery is advised to completely remove the liver problems. It involves the transplantation of a healthy liver into the patient’s body after removing the diseased/damaged liver. Let us discuss some of the early signs of liver damage as suggested by Dr.Vivek Vij, who is the best liver transplant surgeon in delhi and has also been an esteemed member of International Hepato-Pancreato Biliary Association (IHPBA) 1.)Loss of appetite 2.)Abdominal pain 3.)Continuous loss in weight 4.)Nausea 5.)Fatigue 6.)Confused mental state 7.)Jaundice 8.)Easy bleeding

  2. Who can donate liver for a Liver Transplantation? There are generally two types of donors; one is a living donor, and the other is cadaveric donor. LDLT (Living Donor Liver Transplant) –In such transplants, a portion of the liver is taken from the donor’s body after proper evaluation. As we know that liver regenerates itself after certain period of time so it regenerates in 4-6 weeks in both patient and donor.70% of transplants in India are LDLT. DDLT (Deceased Donor Liver Transplant) – In these cases, the liver is generally taken from a dead body. In such cases, the brain stops working but other body organs keep working for certain period of time. It is during this time that the organs can be donated. Time taken for Recovery An ailing person with an irreversible liver damage needs to undergo immediate liver transplant. Dr. Vivek Vij, a renowned Liver Transplant Surgeon operates patients with reasonable Cost of liver transplant in india. After the transplant surgery is completed successfully, patients are generally discharged from the hospital in few days. It may take around 6 months for complete recovery. There are several do’s and don’ts that a person needs to follow sincerely post transplant. Moreover, there is a general misconception among people that only adults can have an irreparable liver damage, which subsequently requires liver transplant while the fact is that children are equally prone to fatal liver diseases. Thus, it is important to take care of one’s liver since the early stages of childhood itself.
