  15. BRUCE A RESTART • Bruce A Units 1 & 2 were shutdown in 1995 and 1997. AMEC has had a major role in the return of the units to service after 8-10 years with a future planned operating life of 25 years. • AMEC’s responsibilities include: • Overall Project Management including Commercial Management, Contract Management, Risk and Issue Management and Quality Assurance • Engineering support, including Oversight of Environmental Qualification program, designated design authorities, Design of modifications • Providing Safety and Licensing support, including Safety Analysis, Safe Operating Envelope, Licensing Basis Review, Periodic Safety Review and Seismic Margin Assessment • Health Physics / Radiation Protection • Laundry / Waste Management

Result: The PSR will provide a 10 year review of safety, operating history, and a confirmation to the operator, Nuclearelectrica and the regulator (CNCAN), of the ongoing plant safety against modern standards and requirements. An added benefit is the extension of the operational re-licensing process from 2 years to a 10 year cycle. SAFETY DOCUMENTATION, ACCIDENT ANALYSIS AND LICENSING SUPPORT AMEC has pulled together a strong project team from its staff in Canada, the UK and Romania to deliver the first Periodic Safety Review for the Cernavoda Unit 1 CANDU-6 NPP. AMEC is providing complete Project Management, training for plant staff, and full technical delivery of all PSR Safety Review reports, to IAEA standards.
