  3. Scope • This MIB structure contains configuration which is limited to the objects required for configuring VPLS as described in draft-ietf-l2vpn-ldp-09.txt

  6. MIB Usage • To configure a VPLS service the following tables need to be configured • vplsConfigTable • Index: vplsIndex • pwTable [PWE3-PW-MIB] • Index: pwIndex • vplsPwBindTable • Index: vplsIndex, vplsPwIndex

  7. Future Enhancements • Known issues/ unresolved issues • Where to store the MAC Address and its related information. BRIDGE-MIB or within the VPLS MIB • Constraint is qualified/unqualified learning • Notion of qualified and unqualified learning in absent • VPLS MTU is missing • This is needed despite PW MTU since we need to have a service wide MTU. • vplsMacLearning is a redundant object • vplsDiscardUnknownDest is non required object • vplsMacAgingTimer is absent

Future Enhancements • vplsMacAddrLimit is absent • Number of learnt Mac Addresses is absent • Multicast frame handling is absent • Broadcast • IGMP Snoop • PIM Snoop • VPLS notion not supported yet. • Change needed in PWE-3 MIB so that a PW can terminate on either an Attachment Circuit or a VSI. • Provisioning a Pseudo Wire as “Primary” or “Standby” is absent

  9. Future Enhancements • vplsPwBindTable • Type of bind (spoke / mesh) is absent • MacAddrLimit may be per VPLS, not per PW. We may remove this object. • Merge with VPWS/ IPLS MIB’s ?
