Arts in Society

This thesis investigates the profound impact of art on individuals and society, questioning traditional definitions of what constitutes art. Drawing from personal experience in dance and color guard, it seeks to broaden the understanding of art beyond conventional forms like paintings and drawings. Through research methods including interviews, observations, and diverse media, the study aims to unveil how art can shape cultural growth and influence societal development. Ultimately, it invites peers and artists to re-evaluate their perceptions of art's role and significance.

  1. Arts in Society michaela garceau

  2. Thesis How does art influence people and thier societies, or people individually, and what is it limited to?

  3. What sparked my interest? I've doing some form of dance since I was four years old. I started out doing ballet, but for the last seven years it's been dance within color guard. Winterguard international has a motto: "Sport of the Arts" That motto is the reason I want to research how far art can be defined. Does art have to be tangable? If not, where does it end? I haven't done much in the way of any research on a topic like this, other than experience and observation, so I'd like to see what I can learn.

  4. Why is it so important to research? • Most people think of art as a painting on canvas or a drawing in a sketch pad. • I want people to broaden thier idea of what art really is. • Historically, art may have influenced the way our culture grew. So can we influence how we continue to grow?

  5. My forms of Research • Internet • Observations • Videos • Interviews • Articles Target Audience: Peers, Artists, and middle-ages
