  3. Starting with an Idea • What kind of story do you want to tell?

  4. The Idea • Playing games help. • Watching other films. • Really anywhere.

  5. Flush out the Idea • Figure out key points. • Rough out Characters. • Scene Locations.

  6. Write the Script • Create complete characters. • Get the whole storyline written. • Make a storyboard. • Even using screen shots helps out a lot.

  7. Prototyping • Pick “Hard” scenes and try to produce them. • Explore what the game can do. • Figure out camera angles. • Look into HUD removal. • Decided how many puppeteers you will need.

  9. Production – Custom Assets • 3d Models/Animation • Textures • Level / Map / Scenery

  10. Production - Audio • Bring in Voice Actors. • Always do more than one take. • Always have them say it another way. • Music/Sound Effect creation.

  11. Production - Video • Always shoot more than you need. • Allow for multiple angles. • Save games a lot! • Look to storyboards and pre-visualizations.

  12. Post-Production • Now you should have: • Dialog • Some sense of Music and Sound Effects • Lots of Video captured • Save game files

  13. Converting • Make sure your files are in the correct format. • Video and Audio are at highest quality. • DV is usually the best for Video. • Aiff, high quality Wav for Audio.

  14. Graphics • Overlays • Stills • Effects

  15. Editing • Audio syncing • Transitions • Pacing/Timing • Shoot manipulation

  16. Pickups • Use those saved games. • Have to remember how everything was laid out. • Have scripts handy and updated.

  17. Dissemination • Website • Server access • Community sites
