  1. Ways To Flatten An Area Rug You've finally chosen the ideal area rug for your living room, den, or kids' playroom, and can't wait to unroll it when it gets here. Imagine when you find out the rug is significantly bent, curled, wrinkled, or otherwise deformed. When removing a rug from storage that has been folded or rolled, wrinkles and creases may also appear. Make sure to always use a rug that fits in your room properly as there are less chances of rolling if the rug is in the ideal size. For example, you can use medium rugs for your bedroom or if you want to lay the rug underneath the center table you can add a circle rug. Before You Start It's possible that a rug merely needs some time to flatten out before resorting to more sophisticated procedures. If you unroll a brand-new area rug and there are only minor waves from packaging or shipment, the fibers will normally relax and the rug will begin to level out on its own if you smooth it down as flat as you can and let it alone for a day or two. You may only need time and gravity in some circumstances to restore your rug to its original condition. Even if you finally want to use the rug on a carpet, for optimal results, consider putting it on a hard floor while it relaxes. What You'll Need Equipment   Clothes iron Hair dryer Materials  Double-sided carpet tape How To Flatten A Rug 1) Flip The Rug When you first unroll most new carpets, the edges will at least have some curl. The corners then refuse to lie flat, even as the remainder of the rug begins to relax. Your next move in that situation will depend on which way the corners are curling. Fold them gently under if they're curling upward and leave them alone for a day or two. However, if they are, you should either turn the rug over and tuck the corners in or just weigh down each corner with anything heavy (books, furniture, etc.) to encourage the carpet strands to loosen up and flatten out. 2)Tape Down The Rug

  2. Get some double-sided carpet tape from your neighborhood furniture or home improvement store if you're seeking a quick way to flatten your rug. The tape will stick to the floor when applied to the back of your rug and keep your rug in place. It successfully eliminates all creases and stops any new ones from forming. Both existing wall-to-wall carpeting and hard flooring can typically be repaired with carpet tape. Before attaching, make sure to press down firmly and smooth the carpeting. 3) Backroll the rug You might just have to wait a few minutes in some circumstances to have your rug ready for installation in your home. The carpet may occasionally lie flat just by being unrolled and then rolled again in the opposite direction. Allowing the carpet to sit for a day or two before unrolling it the opposite way is another option if this tip doesn't work right away. 4)Use A Clothes Iron After a few days, if your rug still isn't laying flat after you've tried flipping it over, letting it alone, or weighing it down, you can always use your reliable iron to fix the problem. Rugs with curls can be ironed on a low level, but make sure to put anything between the iron's heat and the rug. For this, craft paper works wonderfully. Keep your use of the iron to a minimum to avoid melting, burning, or any other heat-related damage. 5)Lay The Rug In The Sun Try laying the rug out on pristine pavement or concrete outside if the iron didn't work or if you just want to protect your rug from possible damage. It would be best to conduct this on a dry, sunny afternoon. 6)Use A Hair Dryer If using an iron or the sun didn't work, you might try using a hairdryer on the rug's reverse. Heat the wrinkled region gradually, then let it go. Hold the hairdryer at least 6 to 9 inches away and use a sweeping motion on a low to medium setting to avoid the danger of melting the rug's fibers. Keep the dryer moving at all times, never hold it still in one spot When To Call A Professional The majority of common rugs will respond to the simple do-it-yourself flattening techniques, but if they don't, two expert techniques can be used steaming and stretching. Your rug's construction may allow a professional provider to steam it to eliminate the creases. Before using this technique, you must test the rug for colorfastness, though. Your rug can become damaged during the steaming process and the colors might bleed. 

  3. Asking a nearby carpet retailer to stretch the carpet is an additional choice. The wrinkles will frequently disappear if it is pulled tight and slowly stretched. But because the stretching procedure might harm the rug if done incorrectly, it is also a task that is best left to experts.
