Winter Slip & Fall Safety Tips • Wear shoes or boots that provide traction on snow and ice. Don’t get caught off-guard – weather changes quickly in Colorado. Keep appropriate footwear nearby. • Be aware of your footing and any potential slip, trip or fall hazard that may be present. • Take small steps or shuffle. • Keep your center of balance under you. • Walk slowly and never run on icy ground. • Keep both hands free for balance, rather than in your pockets. • Use handrails from start to finish. Wet shoes and snow melt make hard entry surfaces very slippery. Use floor mats to remove snow and water from footwear. • Take the time to apply salt to potentially icy areas to protect yourself and others. • Travel in maintained areas only • Don’t cut across empty parking spaces where black ice may have formed under vehicles Remember - Report All Slips and Falls as Incidents!
