Key challenges for recruiting members for the OCIX • To continue to acquire new members • Continue to bring awareness the importance of an Internet Exchange for the St Maarten ecosystem • The challenge to bring more content to the OCIX, Internet Exchange for the Caribbean Region • The importance of creating local and regional content specifically tailored to the Caribbean market • Creating a Regional Internet Exchange, whereby all interested Operators in Caribbean Region can have a seat on the supervisory board of the OCIX and contribute to the further development of the OCIX for the Caribbean Region

  4. OCIX Traffic (1) 2011 2012 The traffic currently passing through the OCIX Internet Exchange has more than double compared with 2011 and with peak traffic of almost 300 Mb. This is an indication that the traffic exchange between the members are increasing substantially

  5. OCIX Traffic (2) 2011 2012 We have seen the daily traffic exchange between members increase from 40 Mb on average to 120 Mb which is 3x time the traffic exchange in 2011. This is a tremendous cost saving for the local Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

  7. OCIX organization OCIX is a non-profit, neutral and independent, professional exchange. On the 21st April 2008 OCIX Association was established as an Association in St. Maarten, operating under Netherlands Antilles Law. OCIX N.V. is the company of which the Association is a 100% owner that acts as the operator and administrator of the exchange. Membership is free of charge
