  1. Open Source initiative on filing “Choosing open standards is a very smart business decision” European Commissioner NeelieKroes, Open Source Champion

  2. Open Source Defined: • Freely available technology licensed under terms compatible with Version 1.9 (or later) of the Open Source Definition, as established by the Open Source Initiative (see http://www.opensource.org/). • Intellectual Property based on BSD, Apache 2, EUPL, Creative Commons or equivalent. • Oriented to proof of concept and specialized tools

  3. The Mission: • Reduce regulatory burden and facilitate business reporting disclosure. • Facilitate open source innovation and sustainability with business visibility and funding opportunities: • By promoting optional open source clauses on public tenders (taxpayers’ money) and then share deliverables • Protect open source users with information, policies, and secured copies (as www.osor.eu)

  4. Specification vs. Tools? • The best known component of XBRL is the XML standard itself which has a strong, stable community of members who support it’s care and maintenance. • A number of XBRL Open Source projects are in progress since 2004, as listed in www.xbrlwiki.info“Open Source and XBRL Processors” • We advance our mission protecting open source projects, grants and engagement efforts. Eg: http://arelle.org/

  5. Open Community for Open Source • Although everybody can be part of the OpenFiling User community, the decision making process will be explicit, transparent and predictable. • The OpenFiling community will maintain its structure as simple and flat as possible, as a social network. • Open Intellectual Property, Technology Road Map and Project Sustainability are our Three Pillars.

  6. What OpenFiling.org will do: • Facilitate the ongoing development of XBRL open resources that will be freely available to use and modify. • Publicise and promote the adoption of Open Source XBRL-related technology and educational resources. • Help/Incubate implementations and business tests cases for end users, developers, companies and regulators. • Look for fundraising to support development of Open Source XBRL-related technology programs and services. • Encourage and facilitate the use of open source across the reporting supply chain, always being neutral.

  7. Coming soon! Recruitment Office at www.openfiling.org Diane Mueller (Canada) , Herm Fischer (USA) , Ignacio Boixo (Eurofiling) With the early support of Tushar Das (India), Igor Sakuma (Peru)
