  16. Water Logic

  17. Water holding Options • Purchased Cistern: $23,000 • Site-made Fiber reinforced concrete: $3000 + Labor

  18. Water Storage Laundry Shower & Sink Kitchen Pressure Tank PEX System (manifold) Cistern Pump Septic Toilet Outlet 50 gal Water Tank Submersible Pump Garden Outlet

  19. Solar Power System Off-Gridish

  20. Solar Irradiance kWh/m^2/day Denpasar, Indonesia

  21. Solar Panel Array • 1000 kWh per month needed • Chose lowest productive month • 4.84 kWh X 31 days = 150 kWh/month • 1000 kWh/150 kWh (per panel) = 6.66 panels or 7 panels • Increase to 8 panels for good measure

  22. Charge Controller • If each panel outputs 250 watts, then… • 250w X 8 panels = 2000 total watts • If we choose a 24 V charge controller, then… • 2000w/24V = 83.33 or 90 amps • 100 amp charge controller needed

  23. Battery Bank 3 day back-up • 1000 kWh/30 days = 33 kWh X 3 = 99 kWh • 99 kWh = 99,000 wh • 99,000wh/24V = 4,125 AH • We need (4) 24V, 1100 AH forklift batteries

  24. Hourly Watt Usage Peek Hour Wattage Use

  25. DC to AC Inverter • The maximum load at any given time is 3,500 watts • An inverter has a 95% efficiency • Therefore, 3,700 watts must be fed into the inverter in order for a 3,500-w output because 3,500/.95 = 3,685-w • (2) 2,500 watt inverters = 5,000 watts

  26. Estimated Expense • 8 (250-w) solar panels @ $1.50/watt = $3,000 • 1 (100 A) charge controller = $300 • 4 (1,100 AH) forklift batteries = $ 14,000 • 2 (2,500-w) Inverters = $3,000 • Accessories (cables) = $ 4,000 • Total Estimated Cost = $24,300 (40yr payoff) • Estimated Cost Grid-Tied = $10,000 (17yr payoff)

  27. Cost Analysis

  28. “Naturalness is the basis of effectiveness.”~ Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Thank you!
