  1. Status update EM subcommittee Morten Espeland, representing for EM subcommittee chairman Friedrich Roth SEG 2013, HoustonTechnical Standards Committee meeting

  2. Quick history recap: Started in 2011, with the following objective: ”The goal of this TSC subcommittee will be to define a common standard for exchanging marine controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) and magnetotelluric (MT) field data. The subcommittee will be evaluating self-describing formats like the most recent version of HDF (HDF5) to define how the format should be used for storing EM data types” Original focus was a standard for exchange of field data. Stranded on reservations regarding long term accessibility of data stored in HDF5. This issue has been resolved with a license agreement in place between SEG and the HDF Group. In the meantime most original members of the sub-committee have resigned. Status update EM subcommittee

  3. Questions for today: Is there enough interest and support to continue the work of the committee? What should the main focus of the committee be? Continue with work on a standard for field data, or is there more need for and interest in a standard for processed data? Should a new announcement be made in The Leading Edge to ask for more participants?
