  5. PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS To be classified as a 10th grader You need to earn a minimum of 5 credits Including 1 unit in English 1 unit in Mathematics

  6. PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS To be classified as a 11th grader You need to earn a minimum of 11 credits Including 2 units in English 2 units in Mathematics

Attendance! 45-DAY COURSE (9-weeks) – MUST ATTEND 42 DAYS (3 DAYS UNX ALLOWED) 90-DAY COURSE (Semester) – MUST ATTEND 85 DAYS (5 DAYS UNX ALLOWED) 180-DAY COURSE (Yearlong) – MUST ATTEND 170 DAYS (10 DAYS UNX ALLOWED) Student must attend the required number of days to receive credit regardless of grade, provided the student receives a passing grade in the course. Parent notes do not count as excused absences, only Dr. excuses count as an excused absence.

Why Develop an IGP? • The IGP captures decisions about the direction in which the student wishes to go in high school and postsecondary education • Specifies cluster, major, postsecondary goals, planned high school schedule, planned out-of class career activities • Reviewed annually throughout high school by students, parents, and guidance counselors • Puts students and parents in control of education and career decision-making

  14. Format of IGP Development • 8th Grade - Select a broad school of study for 9th Grade • 9th Grade - Revise school of study if needed and select a cluster of study and/or a major for 10th through 12th Grade • 10th Grade – Select a major • 11th thru 12th - Make adjustments to IGP as needed

Change and Flexibility • Remember that IGP’s are tentative plans. • Young people change ideas and direction. • Classes will not always fit in students’ schedules, or may not be offered due to lack of enrollment. • Changes can be made! • Keep the District Course Catalog handy; teachers can use this in advisement with students and to help students connect the relevance between academic coursework and their career majors
