  2. Are all paintings created for the same reason? • Some artists want to reveal beauty. • Some want to make a statement. • Some want to challenge the viewers. • Some strive to accomplish all three.

  3. Just like artists, authors write for different reasons. • We call these reasons purposes. • Throughout this year, we are going to be practicing twelve purposes behind real-world writing.
