Outline background to modals and introduction to the new modals cartographic structure for the core modals and the semi-modals, and movement to T and C. emerging class of mighta, coulda, woulda, shoulda, and musta: movement and feature checking through minimal search. orthographic variants of –a. third factor principles involved in modals and auxiliaries in general, labeling and indeterminacy.
