    1. How to Embed Videos in Plone Using the: Why OSUE, OARDC, and CFAES YouTube video

    2. Intro How to embed a YouTube video into Plone. The process of embedding a YouTube video into a page is performed the same for any type of page. Anywhere you can place a Hypterlink you can embed video.

    3. Before proceeding… Create a content item (page, event, news story, etc…) on your County website. Located the video in YouTube that you want to embed in the content item.

    4. The embed field in YouTube At the YouTube website with the Video already displaying on the web page. Click on Embed input field located on the right side corner of the page.

    5. Selecting the video options in YouTube Once you click on the embed field, YouTube displays a series of options which allows you to customize the video size (height and width), its styles (colors), video quality (HD) and to show other related videos (not recommended at the moment and I will explain why later). Before proceeding to embed the video, let’s look into these options more in detail.

    6. YouTube Video Options [Include Related Videos] When this option is selected, a series of related videos are shown after the video has played (See illustration below). We do not recommend the user select this option because, there is currently not a way to control what videos will be shown under the “Related Videos” area (For more info please read the following article.

    7. YouTube Video Options [Show Border] As its name indicates, this option, when selected, basically shows a border around the video with the color selected on the color palette. This option is ok to use as long as the color used to display the border and the player matched closely to the ones used on Extension websites.

    8. YouTube Video Options [Enable privacy-enhanced mode] Users may ignore this option. This mode restricts YouTube's ability to set cookies for a user who views a web page that contains a privacy-enhanced YouTube embed video player, but does not click on the video to begin playback. YouTube may still set cookies on the user's computer once the visitor clicks on the YouTube video player, but YouTube will not store personally-identifiable cookie information for playbacks of embedded videos using the privacy-enhanced mode.

    9. YouTube Video Options [Play in HD] This option allows the video to be played in HD from the moment the viewer clicks on the play button on his/her browser. I would leave this option set to “Off” and allow the viewer to have the capability of pressing the HD button located on the video player. If this option is set to “On” the viewer might experience time outs, re-buffering connections and video pausing during the video presentation.

    10. YouTube Video Options [Video Resolution] At the moment YouTube is offering 4 options for video sizes. These sizes are: 500x315 580x360 660x405 873x525 The two sizes that best fit the content area on the new Extension websites are 500x315 and 580x360, any size beyond 580x### will result on the video overlapping on top of the left column.

    11. Options are set Once the user has set the correct options for the video, they are ready to start copying the code already generated in the EMBED field. To do that, just follow these steps: Click on in the EMBED field Using the keyboard press command+A (Mac) or control+A (Windows) to select all the information Using the keyboard, press command+C (Mac) or control+C (Windows) to copy the code.

    12. Embedding the code in Plone On the Kupu toolbar click on the “Insert External Link” button Click on the “Embed external object” tab Click in the “insert arbitrary HTML code here” and paste the code by either right clicking on it and selecting the option “paste” or by using the keyboard key combination such as command+V (Mac) or control+V (Windows) Click Ok to embed the video on the page Click on the Save button to save your changes
