  1. Deriving Albedo from Coupled MERIS and MODIS Surface Products Feng Gao, Crystal Schaaf, Yufang Jin, Wolfgang Lucht, Alan Strahler MERIS MODIS Red band April 24, 2003 @ 10 am April 24, 2003 @ 10:30 am

  2. Albedo Algorithm • Magnitude BRDF Inversion requires: A priori BRDF (ancillary data) + BRF observations (MERIS) • Approach A -- uses land cover based BRDF shape each land surface type shares a BRDF shape easier to implement • Approach B -- uses concurrent MODIS BRDF shape each pixel has an unique BRDF shape from MODIS BRDF products better BRDF presentation at pixel level • Products: BRDF parameters, albedo, nadir BRDF-adjusted reflectance

  3. Preliminary Results shortwave broadband albedo Desert Rock SURFRAD
