  3. What is the Goal of the Christian Life?

  4. Psalm 27:4 NASB One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. To behold the beauty of the Lord, and to meditate in His temple.

  5. Luke 10:41-42 NASB But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

  6. John 14:21 NASB He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.

  12. 1 Timothy 4:7-8 NASB But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

  13. Training for Godliness Training for godliness is simply learning how to arrange my life around activities that enable me to live yielded to the Spirit (often called spiritual disciplines).

  14. Myths of Spiritual Disciplines Spiritual Disciplines are NOT a barometer of spirituality. Spiritual Disciplines are NOT necessarily unpleasant. Spiritual Disciplines are NOT a way to earn favor with God.
