  1. Commissioning / Reliability Runs / Dry runs Safety OK before summer Keep system working / software Jan Uythoven, LIBD meeting on LBDS Reliability Run

  2. LBDS Reliability Run in Local • Planned 17/02/14 – 09/05/2014: 12 weeks • Aim: • Find initial system faults (bathtub curve) • Confirm reliability numbers from the past with • Modified equipment freshly installed • Running at increased energy • Our main concerns at the moment • Voltage holding at top energy • Assume running at 7.1 TeV • Extensive running at full energy • Stability of the pulses at injection energy • Especially after longer period at full energy • Sufficient number of pulses for fault statistics Jan Uythoven, LIBD meeting on LBDS Reliability Run

  3. Proposed programme t flat top pulse E 7.1 TeV pulse 450 GeV dtinj t inj t • Infinite number of loops WinCC Simulator Cycle Simulation • Add dt pulses at flat bottom energy • t flat top = 10 h ; t inj = 2h 5 min; dtinj = 10 min; t ramp = 20 min • An energy scan once per week  see next slide • Option to (later) integrate in AccTesting with automatic analysis Jan Uythoven, LIBD meeting on LBDS Reliability Run

  4. Energy Scan 5 pulses at each energy. Add the higher energies. Jan Uythoven, LIBD meeting on LBDS Reliability Run

  5. Total Number of Pulses expected • Compared to B1 in 2008, only 14 % of the number of pulses (but twice as many as for B2) • Are the number of pulses sufficient for statistics? • Roberto’s thesis requests 3 months running period, 75 % running efficiency and pulse on average one time every hour: would expect six failures 2 LBDS systems for SIL3 system. This is ’only’ 1’512 pulses which we expect to easily achieve, but not at 7 TeV… • Don’t want to wear out the system too much • However, effective running time at 7 TeV should be high Jan Uythoven, LIBD meeting on LBDS Reliability Run
