What the Project is About • What – tools for helping people: • Understand quality of life issues • Engage in a wider community discussion of quality of life issues • Develop citizen-based strategies to address problems • Who • Concerned citizens • Community leaders • Professionals in related fields Indiana University

  5. Timeline Phase 1 Pilot Project (May 2007 - January 2008): • Initial working version of website with content sufficient to demonstrate future capability and extensibility of the system. Phase 2-3 (January 2008 – December 2009): • Added content and civic engagement to increase public awareness and involvement in issues important to the quality of life. Indiana University

Indicator Topics Areas • Arts, culture, and recreation • Community development • Demography • Economy • Education • Housing International Connections • Natural and built environment • Non-profits & philanthropy • Public finance & government • Public health • Public safety • Transportation Indiana University

  7. Civic Engagement • Community Working Group convened for two years prior to start of pilot project this spring. • Four Obesity Focus Area Working Groups convening during pilot phase: Built Environment, Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Mental Health. • A community engagement plan is being developed by CUPE for Phases 2-3. Indiana University

  8. Local Systems Being Tapped • Website pages are populated using data received as RSS feeds from source institutions – initially Polis, IBRC, CoP, and CUPE. • Main data sources: • SAVI • STATSIndiana Indiana University
