  17. Juniors 10-12 years old. Either one or two evenings a week.

  18. Sea Cadets 12-18 years old. Two evenings a week.

  19. Royal Marines Cadets 13-18 years old. Two evenings a week.

  20. Volunteer Roles Instructor • Help cadets to get a head start in life as you guide them through the training we do. • This ranges from power boating or sailing to First Aid and meteorology! Committee Member • A Sea Cadet unit is an independent charity and members of the UMC are its trustees. • Roles for Secretary, Chair and Treasurer. • You'll be part of a dedicated team of volunteers helping to fundraise and manage the unit.

  21. Instructors’ Commitment • 1-2 evenings per week • Some weekends • Some holidays

  22. Committee Members’ Commitment • Meeting every 4-6 weeks • Actions in own time • Events

  26. Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre

  27. Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre • Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre (CLAC), is the home for Crosby Boating Station. • This is a 24 hectare salt water lake located on the north side of the estuary of the River Mersey. • It has been a historical site for recreational boating since early 1900s. • CLAC was reopened in 2009 following £10m funding from Sport England, and other key stakeholders. • It is now a very impressive all inclusive facility for boating, residential visits and conferences and weddings.

  30. Can you afford NOT to volunteer? • Increase in unemployed graduates. • 87% of employers think that volunteering can have a generally positive effect on career progression for people aged 16-25.

  31. Volunteer Power • The highest motivation for volunteering is wanting to help people. • 73% of employers would employ someone with volunteering experience over one who has none. • Nearly half of all volunteers say it has improved their physical health and fitness.
