We are committed to connecting Allan Hancock College STEM students with employers to provide meaningful real-world work experiences, aiming to boost STEM student success and persistence rates by 10%. Our initiatives include developing a comprehensive list of potential employers, engaging in community events for recruitment, creating an Employer Guide to Internships, and offering Soft Skill Workshops. We will host an Employer Workshop on January 16th and a STEM Career Fair on March 12, 2014, alongside building a dedicated website and tracking systems for students and employers.

Building a STEM Internship Program Our Goal: To connect Allan Hancock College STEM students with employers to provide real world work experiences and to participate in the National goal of increasing success and persistence rates of STEM students by 10%.
In Process: What Have We Done: • Developed a list of potential employers and local professionals for recruitment. • Developed recruitment material, attended community events, task force meetings and mixers. • Presented at local Rotary meetings (4 total). • Wrote an Employer Guide to Internships. • Developed a Spring Semester series of Soft Skill Workshops for our AHC students. • Planned Employer Workshop, the kick-off event to the program, scheduled January 16th. • Created a “Hub” for obtaining STEM internship information and assistance. • Planning STEM Career Fair, March 12, 2014. • Creating a Website , which is scheduled to go live in January. • Networking with other District Departments to see where we can combine efforts. • Connecting AHC faculty with local employers and industry. • Currently researching methods to track students and employers. • Writing a Student Guide to Internships. • Connecting students to Research and University Internships. • Providing students information and opportunities for Philanthropy.
