  2. General Plot Summary This book takes place in the future where there is a country called Panem that is made up of 12 districts. Every year there is an event called the Hunger Games. Two kids are chosen from each district to compete in these games. All the kids that are chosen are rounded up in one big arena and are forced to fight until one person is still standing. source

  3. Specific Plot Summary Katniss Everdeen volunteers to be the tribute, which is a person that competes in the Hunger Games, from District 12. She volunteers to be tribute when her little sister Prim is chosen, because she doesn’t want her little sister to die in the Games. She meets Peeta Mellark, the other tribute from District 12, and they go to the Capitol of Panem to train and compete for the Hunger Games. source

  7. Setting • This book takes place in the near future in a place called Panem. • Panem is a country in North America. • Panem is separated into 12 districts and a Capitol. • Panem was created when North America collapsed due to war, fire, famine, and drought. source

Themes • Survival-the tributes are forced to survive in the arena • Politics-the government in the Capitol has power over the districts that they enforce through the hungergames • Sacrifice-Katniss sacrifices for her little sister Prim, and Peeta and Katniss sacrificed for each other in the arena • Competition-The book revolves around the competition in the arena, but there is also fierce competition in everyday life in the extreme clothes and makeup that people wear • Love-there is a love triangle between Katniss and Peeta and Katniss and Gale • Identity-Katniss finds her true identify in the arena, as she becomes an inspiration and a role model for all of Panem source

  9. persuasion This book is really sad, depressing, and lonely. I think you will really like it. There are some parts when you can’t even put the book down. I think you should read it .
