  2. INTRODUCTION • My name is Leona Warman and I am an ESL teacher and ELL coordinator • My Email is LWarman584@AOL.com • The presentation is a lesson on chapters one and two of The Pearl • The students will read, do research, and create writing assignments

  3. EXPECTATIONS • Put a lesson on a web site • Create a lesson to be used in my class • Incorporate state standards in my lesson • Learn to use excel to create graphs • Learn to use powerpoint • Surf the internet

  4. OUTCOME • Ilearned the following: • Microsoft Word Proficiency • To use graphs in Excel • To make powerpoint presentations • To scan and incorporate photos in my documents • Downloading and uploading techniques • To navigate on the internet • To link up pages and projects • Web page creation

  5. SUCCESSES • High Interest • Students engaged • Lesson met state standards • Students practiced using typing skills • Students learned how to access web sites for research • Students worked collaboratively helping each other

  6. SHORTCOMINGS • Not enough computers for everyone to use at the same time • Students lack computer skills • Project takes up a great deal of time

  7. Pre and Post Test Comparisons On the whole students improved greatly from pre test to post test. More work still needs to be done with literary analysis.

  8. REVISIONS • After reviewing the data, I noticed that students did well on the comprehension of the story. • However, interpretation, analysis, and writing skills were still weak. • In the future there will be more practice exercises on writing and analysis before the final test.

  9. SUMMARY • This project was of great assistance in a number of ways. • ProficiencyI learned to be more comfortable using the computer. By being proficient with the computer,I was able to pass on these skills to my ESL students. • Interest By using PowerPoint and encouraging my student to use the computer, I had a much more captivated audience. • Curriculum AlignmentAligning the state standards tomy lesson was hard work, but it ensured that students were learning what was required. This project was well worth the many hours of labor. Also having a place to go to in order to view other teachers’ lessons and projects is both helpful and educational. I would encourage my colleagues to do the same.

  10. SUMMARY Continued This project was well worth the many hours of labor. Having a place to go to in order to view other teachers’ lessons and projects is both helpful and educational. I would encourage my colleagues to give it a try .
