  4. Childhood • Born on January 19 1807 in Stratford Virginia • Father ran away when lee was young • Only had mother and his brother to raise him. • Fathers name was Henry Lee

  5. Becoming a General • Confederate president Jefferson Davis put him in charge of the defenses of the South Atlantic coastline This was his first job as a general This gave Lee a good command on some troops to start his leadership position

  6. Great Battles General Lee lead • Gettysburg • Chattanooga • Vicksburg • First Battle of Bull Run

  7. His Death • Robert E. Lee died on October 12 1870 this mean he lived for 63 years.
