With its headquarters in Mumbai, Shipping Corporation of India is the Indian government-owned public sector enterprise operating and managing vessels to service both National and International trades. SCI being India’s premier shipping line operates around one-third of the Indian tonnage. Established on 2 October 1961, SCI today has evolved to be the largest Indian shipping company. Starting as a marginal liner company with just 19 vessels, SCI changed to be the lifeline of the nation ensuring continued and uninterrupted supply of crude oil, driving the economy. The presence of modern, young, and diversified fleet with trained and experienced manpower has enhanced SCI’s growth. The government awarded the prestigious “Navratna“ status to Shipping Corporation of India in 2008. A slew of innovative strategies delivered an enhanced graph of profitability. Shipping Corporation of India is the only shipping company to deliver overseas Liner Break-bulk services to the Indian trade. Emerging as a world-class international shipping company, SCI delivers a wide range of services for the overseas trade.

  3. Evolved to be the largest tanker owner in India, SCI has a well-diversified fleet of crude oil tankers. SCI delivers a wide range of tankers consisting of sizesMR, LR-I, LR-II, Aframax, Suezmax, and VLCC Tankers, serving the enhanced growth of the Indian oil industry. In synergy with refiners, SCI deploys the tankers for the coastal movement of petroleum products. In 1975, dedicated lighterage cell acquired the necessary equipment and conducted sea Ship-to-Ship (STS) lighterage operations on the Indian coast. The process comprises of cleaning and inspecting the submerged portions of the hull by taking the ship to the dry land.
