  1. Pros and Cons of Social Networking

  2. Pros • Can be used to find likeminded individuals. It’s not too difficult to find people who enjoy similar things with social networks which can lead to a sense of belonging. • Can be used to promote specific personal interests. It can be hard for people to find local areas that cater to their interests that are unpopular. • Provides a new tool to reach students and audiences.Private groups can be created easily allowing students and teachers to communicate amongst each other about their learning. • Easier and cheaper advertising.Advertisement via social networks is generally much cheaper and has a greater reach than TV advertising. • Can connect friends across great distances.Because the internet is available almost everywhere people can be constantly connected to their social networks.

  3. Cons • Easy for predators to find victims. It doesn’t take much effort for a predator to pretend to be someone else to lure victims in. • Easy for people to impersonate others.Identity theft is quite easy when no one can prove who they’re talking to. • Promotes isolationTo some people it’s much easier to stay at home and just talk to people with social networking which can cause mental issues. • Anonymity can be abused.People feel that they have power when they’re not face to face with the person they’re talking to. • Can lead to addiction. When someone becomes addicted to social networking it severely stunts their real life.
