  1. Life through DeathEaster Sunday Avenue Vineyard March 31, 2013

  2. “The resurrection completes the inauguration of God's kingdom…It is the decisive event demonstrating that God's kingdom really has been launched on earth as it is in heaven. The message of Easter is that God's new world has been unveiled in Jesus Christ and that you're now invited to belong to it.” N.T. Wright

  3. “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16

  4. Jesus has always many who love His heavenly kingdom, but few who bear His cross. He has many who desire consolation, but few who care for trial. He finds many to share His table, but few to take part in His fasting. All desire to be happy with Him; few wish to suffer anything for Him...Do not those who always seek consolation deserve to be called mercenaries? Do not those who always think of their own profit and gain prove that they love themselves rather than Christ? Thomas à Kempis

  5. “…if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:27

  6. Catherine of Genoa 1447-1510 AD

  7. "She was greatly zealous in ... bringing help to the sick and the poor to the best of her ability.  She would clean the most nauseating filth, and if she felt her stomach heaving, she would put some of it in her mouth to overcome her squeamishness." Catherine of Genoa

  8. If you are finding something really difficult, maybe instead of running away from it, or ignoring it, it is better to get closer? Life Principle

  9. 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-11

  10. 9Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names,10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11 cont’d

  11. “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty powerthat raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, 11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!...I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me…I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:10-14

  12. What might God say to you about taking up your cross and following him? • What might he say to you about receiving the power of his resurrection life? For Reflection
